Molecular Biology and Genetics Seminars: Asst. Prof. Emin İstif
Asst. Prof. Emin İstif from Kadir Has University will be the next guest of the seminar series organized by KHAS Molecular Biology and Genetics Department with his speech “Implementation of Polymer Functional Materials for Bioelectronics and Sensing Applications” on Thursday, March 30 at 16:00 on Zoom.
Zoom ID: 868 0979 9447
Abstract: Tailoring the properties of a polymer material starts at the molecular level. The variations in the molecular level features can be translated to the materials by structural modification, which can open avenues for niche applications. Recently, the implementation of functional polymer materials for the miniaturization of electronic devices receives great interest. However, a fundamental understanding of the physical and chemical properties of a material is often needed for the development of such devices. Therefore, the successful development of novel polymer materials is crucial to fill the gap at the intersection of material chemistry and miniaturized bioelectronic or optoelectronic devices.
The first part of this talk will focus on the synthesis of various types of polymer material for their implementation into living plants to reveal bioelectronic applications. The second part of the talk will focus on the implementation of functional polymer materials in sensing applications. These studies shed light on the development of functional polymer materials and good control of materials properties for applications in future-generation bioelectronics as well as in potential devices for food and environmental sensors.
