KHAS Psychology Department Colloquium Series – Dr. Scott Cole
KHAS Psychology Department Colloquium Series host Dr. Scott Cole (York St. John University, UK) on Tuesday, May 30 at 15:00 in Galata Hall for his speech titled “Spontaneous thought and positive mental imagery: How to explain mood effects of mental imagery interventions?”
Abstract: Although deliberate forms of future thinking have been extensively studied, covering theory, cognitive mechanisms and applications, research on spontaneous future thinking remains in its infancy. In this talk, I will synthesise data from mind wandering, prospective memory and future thinking, and present a dual process theory of future thinking. I will also summarise some recent ways that spontaneous future thinking has been used to understand and improve mental health.
