Erasmus BIP Course: Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will this Erasmus BIP course count towards my degree?

A: Yes, this course counts as a regular elective worth 3 credits (equivalent to 5 ECTS credits) and will be added to your course load.

Q: The intensive study week in Vienna (November 4-8, 2024) conflicts with my other classes. What should I do?

A: Attendance at the intensive study week in Vienna is mandatory. Missing this week will result in failing the course. Once you are selected and registered, the Erasmus office will provide a permission letter for your department and instructors, informing them of your absence and helping to make arrangements for your other courses, exams, and assignments during that week.

Q: Can I see the syllabus?

A: The syllabus is being finalized in collaboration with partner instructors and will be available by early September. The course will focus on introducing students to various historical archives and documents, and developing basic digital history skills, including document analysis. No prior history background or language skills (other than English) are required, as we will be working with English translations of exemplary documents.

Q: Are there regular weekly classes in addition to the Vienna week and online lectures?

A: The course is primarily structured around the intensive study week in Vienna and three online collaborative lectures with students from partner universities. These sessions are designed to cover the majority of the course content, so there will be fewer regular classes at the home institution. The instructor will enforce strict attendance requirements for all sessions, both in-person and online, with or without the participation of partner universities

Q: How will I be graded?

A: Your grades will be assigned by your instructor at Kadir Has University, Müge Özbek, following the rules and standards of your home institution. Grading is independent of partner instructors.
