KHAS’ Contribution to Gender Equality Awarded

Turkey’s Women Leaders Awards, organized by Dünya, a daily political newspaper, in partnership with UNESCO Chair on Gender Equality and Sustainable Development, The Center for Gender Studies at Koç University (KOÇ-KAM) was held on March 1, 2021. The Awards aims to shed light on and announce the success stories of women who contribute to Turkey’s economic development, of the universities and companies where successful women are educated and supported, and of men walking with women visible.

Kadir Has University was awarded the third prize in the category of “Universities Contributing to Gender Equality”, thanks to the works of The Gender and Women’s Studies Research Center, which prioritize informing and raising awareness against all types of gender-based discrimination, aim to create social impact and stand out in struggling sexist stereotypes in universities.

The Gender and Women’s Studies Research Center at KHAS

KHAS Gender and Women’s Studies Research Center, which works in the fields of gender and women’s perception, gender inequality in higher education, and analysis of sexual- and gender-based abuse and assault policies, continue to carry out many valuable projects with national and international partners.

The Research Center completed the SAGE (Systemic Action for Gender Equality) project in 2019 successfully, designed to seek stronger actions on gender equality in higher education and research with stakeholder universities from 7 countries. The GenderEX project (Gender for Excellence in Research) coordinated by the KHAS Gender and Women’s Studies Research Center, in collaboration with Lund University (Sweden), University of Genoa (Italy), and Technological University Dublin (Ireland) started on January 1, 2021.
